PRESS BRIEF – 3RD MARCH 2008

1. The Government Delegation left for Juba on 18th February 2008 and came back on 1st March 2008.

2. The time spent in Juba, the following documents were signed:

I. Annexture to Accountability and Reconciliation was signed on 19th February 2008.

II. Implementation Protocol for Comprehensive Solutions was signed on 22nd February 2008.

III. Permanent Ceasefire was signed on 23rd February 2008.

IV. Demobilization, Disarmament and Reintegration was signed on 29th February 2008.

V. Implementation and Monitoring Mechanisms was signed on 29th February 2008.

VI. Addendum 6 to the Cessation of Hostilities was signed on 1st March 2008.

3. All negotiations are now concluded.

4. The Final Peace Agreement will be signed at a ceremony before 28th March 2008.

5. This is to allow the LRA Delegation to proceed to the ICC in Hague and then to Ri-Kwang -Ba.

6. The mediator will also need to travel to Ri-Kwang-Ba
before the signing ceremony.

7. Walk-outs:

These were experienced on issues of power sharing, ICC indictments and the date for signing the Final Peace Agreement.

8. Status of Cessation of Hostilities:

The Cessation of Hostilities Agreement was extended to 28th March 2008 because the Permanent Ceasefire comes into effect on the signing of the Final Peace Agreement.
